bendybones
Wondering if these would be any good for a IFB / reference track for camera. Cheap as chips. Obviously won't be as good as usual suspects (Lectro, Comtek, Senn) Anyone? http://www.thomann.de/ie/the_tbone_tour_guidetg_16_r.htm http://www.thomann.de/ie/the_tbone_tour_guide_16_t.htm http://www.thomann.de/ie/the_tbone_tour_guide_tg_c2.htm
Richard Thomas
A friend of mine's got some, they seem to work, he uses them with a sennheiser G2 TX. They're really sensitive to mobile phone interference (which can be useful for getting phones off)
Vincent R.
I was looking into them, but dislike the internal battery. Wonder how long they will last. And I see they are in the 800 MHz range, somewhat useless in the lot of Europe these days
Richard Thomas
Ah, my friend's got some slightly different ones which run on AA batteries http://www.thomann.de/ie/the_tbone_iem_100_r_863_mhz.htm Both are on CH70, (863-865MHz) which should remain license free across europe
badger
Have used the AA versions. Not really built to last. We got through a fair few on a feature. And yes, they are very sensitive to phone interference, but as Richard says this can have it's advantages.

I thought the whole 800 spectrum was gone for us.
pkautzsch
As I stated in another thread, they sound/feel like EUR 200 units, costing less than half. In practice, they've been good enough for directors, scripties, and whoever else wants one on set. It's fine for listening to what talents are saying, and the on-board Mobile Phone Detector has proven a feature rather than a bug. They seem to dislike cold wet weather, and you sometimes have to set the RX to a very different channel than the TX is set to: The actual RX tuning isn't always the frequency stated on the display. When in a pouch (I use cheapish mobile phone pouches in different colors, noting/remembering who got which color in the morning) they last long enough, and if someone breaks them, they aren't too expensive on the replacement bill, which production companies seem to like. resonate
Richard. Am I right in understanding that you can use Sennheiser TX with this one? How do you set it up? I have a g3 Sk 500 bodypack TX. I have a g3 Sk 500 bodypack TX. I'm not 100% sure as I didn't set them up. I assume it's just a case that the TX and RX are set to the same frequency
Math
Yes, Richard is right; you can use them with Sennheiser G3 tx's as long as they are in the same frequency bands, and appropriately tuned. I have some of these as iem's and i have to say i avoid using them if i can. They are very much a stopgap if i run out of G3's for a few reasons - they are pretty flimsy, very quiet in terms of gain so users end up turning the volume up very high. As others have noted they are susceptible to mobile interference and other pops and splats, and if the volume has been cranked up you often see users wincing and pulling their headphones off as the interference is very loud compared to the audio. I use them in UK ch70 with a G3 tx, and even with the tx transmitting pretty hot they just aren't very loud. And they are not very durable - i've had one go down in relatively light rain. That's why they are so cheap i suppose.
Constantin
I would guess that you have to turn off the pilot tone on the G3 transmitter?

ricseq
I contact Thomann.de and they tell me that the t.bone IEM 200 don't work with sk500 G4 or other from Sennheiser. Any one try this t.bone model. Thanks
