johndiemer
Hey Guys, Thought I would share this crazy story. I was shooting a reality show for Much Music in Banff, Alberta and the director approached me the morning of with a crazy request (as per usual). He wanted to have the contestants start at the top of this hill and go tubing down to the bottom delivering lines. I thought it would be a great chance to try out my Lectro SMVs at 250mw. The talent was about 150 meters away at the top of the hill and I had to pull my 411s out of the bag to get the antennas higher up but as you can see from the picture, pretty much full RF the whole way down. Great work Lectrosonics!
pverrando
Great story. Similarly, I had 2 SMV at 250mw mounted externally on two police cars, fed by plant mics inside the cars and taking power from each car's 12 volt cigar lighter. Our follow vehicle had two SNA600 dipoles mounted about 12" above the roof on fiberglass poles, feeding a Venue Field. On the highways, we would get up to 1/2 mile range, sometimes more. In the city, we would routinely loose the cars in traffic, but could usually hear them.
Jack Norflus
Pete How did you feed 12 volts into the transmitter?
Simon Hayes
Lectrosonics SMV's are astoundingly good radios.
pverrando
Lectro makes am AA batt eliminator for SM's that takes 6-18 volts.
studiomprd
" I thought it would be a great chance to try out my Lectro SMVs at 250mw. " 100mw probably would have worked... " pull my 411s out of the bag to get the antennas higher up " that's the important part. better antennae, with better separation and 50 mw would have worked well... I think I've gotten similar range with the G3s as long as I had line of sight. But then again, would I trust it? Naaah. Sawrab
