swaneon
I was wondering if you guys think I should get a Mix Pre D for 650 or a Mix Pre for $460? I don't think I need all the new features of the Mix Pre D though--but I'm not

jason porter
The Mix Pre D has 4 inputs, always more useful!
Philip Perkins
The D is pretty sweet and the future is digital--you will prob find it more useful for more things going forward. I've had the orig Pre since they were first avail and it's worked great for me, but it has its limitations. philp
Jim Feeley
I have a MixPre (Shure FP24). It's still a useful piece of kit. But the MixPre-D has so many more features...and even if you don't need those features, the much nicer metering and mic/line (as opposed to just line) XLR outs on the D are worth a couple hundred. Rick Reineke
The MixPre-D has 'enhancements' for the DSRL user like an unbalanced mic level output via a1/8" mini . Both only have 2-XLR mic inputs AFAIK.

jason porter
Correct, plus 2 line inputs. The MixPre-D has 'enhancements' for the DSRL user like an unbalanced mic level output via a1/8" mini . Both only have 2-XLR mic inputs AFAIK. Cloud Wang
i'm using the D on my laptop for listening music and playback the daily recording files, it's way toooo much better than laptop directly output to any speaker. And so easy to hook up them together.
