John Blankenship Posted May 3, 2013 Report Share Posted May 3, 2013 I found the Schoeps windscreens colored the sound too much for my taste -- even the low end. I've been happier with a foam ball type for interiors and a modified Rycote Softie (removed the big rubber base and sewed it into just a nice furry ball) for more wind protection. Hi Mike, I'm asking how huge the difference is and hoping that someone can share their views. Have worked a few times with a B20 but I have no access to neither of the two at the moment. VM Posted May 4, 2013 Report Share Posted May 4, 2013 I use a W20 : it cuts a little bass frequencies but not too much. I do not like the B20, it seems to me that it cuts too much the low frequencies. For strong wind I use a babyball. It seems to be a personal point of view : some friends of mine do like the B20. Derek H Posted May 6, 2013 Report Share Posted May 6, 2013 Note that the B5D provides a 'shell' of foam and leaves dead air between the capsule and the foam.
