roundbadge
I just Got an iPad mini. Trying some aps for playback on set. I need multiple markers and loop function. So far I've tried twisted wave, wave pad and hokusai but they're supper limited and kinda clumsy to use. Any ideas out there? Thanks! Hunter. Marc Wielage
For that, I just use a real cheap Windows netbook and Courtney Goodin's BWF-Widget Pro, which is indispensable for stuff like this. Courtney's not a Mac fan, so I tend to doubt he'd be interested in doing an iPad version... but I bet if he did, it would sell extremely well. roundbadge
Thanks Marc. I usually use my MacBook Pro 13 with Bias Peak Pro or Pro tools. It works great. I'm just thinking the iPad would be way cooler if a good app existed.

johnpaul215
I see there have been a few threads about iPad for playback, but it didn't sound like anyone found a great app yet. Assuming you don't need to do something with TC split onto another track or anything, the iOS app Traktor DJ might work. I'm going to try using it for playback tomorrow. A few months ago it was on a super sale, so I grabbed it. It allows you to drop cue points on the fly, looping etc. I don't have a lot of experience with the app, so I'll have a laptop for backup, but this might work fine. My project is a pretty straight forward video being shot on non-TC cameras, so I'll just feed the audio to cameras.
rich
ive been trying out https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/liveplayback/id469746819?mt=8 on my current job. lets you add and edit the name of cue points. though be aware that you have to save anything you have loaded in, as when the app quits, it loses anything you have set up. not tried to see if it does any looping. as its for music promos, we have timecode on track 2, which hasnt presented a problem. soundmanjohn
There are two new-ish iPad apps that get used for simple theatre shows that may be suitable for this kind of use: PlayFadePause - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/playfadepause/id493685404?mt=8 which sells for $4.99 Go Button - http://gobuttonapp.com/ which sells for $19.99 Both are robust and simple.
