fieldmixer
Ok I'm worried now. I keep getting this error on boot. All settings get erased.
rich
i assume you have tried re-formatting your primary card, and updating the software?
fieldmixer
I have reformatted many times and tried multiple cards Same thing. I have no need to update software. 4.45 is as solid as can be in my experience and newer version offers no additional functionality for me. Max Hirtenstein
it's a problem with your saved settings. try reloading them. 5.16 is the latest by the way.
ccsnd
did you format the card before you put it in the nomad? Looks a lot like you didn't.
rich
I have reformatted many times and tries multiple cards. Same thing. I have no need to update software. if you re burn the software, it may replace or rewrite the DEVA.INI file that is bad or missing.
fieldmixer
Actually, the mirror card I used had previously been a primary... But I'm Now using different cards. Same error.
Max Hirtenstein
it's not a card problem. do a recall of your settings from the nomad or from an external cf card.
fieldmixer
There were no settings to recall from. I attempted to store settings, power down, rebooted, still no settings to recall from. A Restore to factory defaults did it. Error now gone after boot. Thanks very much fellas. I love this board! Still have the jitters when a mystery error appears I guess... fieldmixer
The exact scenario preceding this error was: using two cards that had previously been primary. Formatted primary card in primary slot, erased Mirror card in mirror slot. First indication of issue was on battery change after battery ran dry during lunch. Still curious what exactly happened. If anyone know the engineering explination please share:)
deep owl
"Restore to factory defaults did it" Yep, that is usually the first thing you want to do with troubleshooting NOMAD I think. It seems to make all sorts of problems go away. Glad you got it handled!
Mark Orusa
Geez, if you'd followed the Zaxcom Nomad forum you'd probably have seen this sticky and avoided your scare: http://www.zaxcom.com/forum/showthread.php?16809-General-tips-when-changing-firmware-or-experiencing-bugs&p=20847&viewfull=1#post20847 Step #1: Restore to factory defaults. howy
This error might have been caused by turning off the machine exactly at the time the current settings were being saved. The new software (5.16 - which I recommend every one upgrade to) has a moving dot on the display that reminds you when the settings are about to be saved so you can avoid turning off the machine just at the wrong moment. -howy
dominiquegreffard
And once you restore to factory default (and fix the issue) is recalling from previous setting gonna make same issue reappear if you stay on same software version? Jack Norflus
And once you restore to factory default (and fix the issue) is recalling from previous setting gonna make same issue reappear if you stay on same software version? It depends. If the issue that is causing the error is within the saved parameters then yes it will reappear.

I think it's got something to do with the size and speed it moves at?
Jeff Wexler
I think maybe that comes from starring at it and wondering whether that is 6 legs or 8 that I see...
