rich
thank you. now if only you hadn't released this the day before a really complicated job. and i like how the metadata linking between to 788's is so cool, you listed it twice.
Steve Joachim
These are some of the highly anticipated updates and changes we had been hoping for. It really improves the usability of the CL-9 interface. Thanks guys!
jon_tatooles
and i like how the metadata linking between to 788's is so cool, you listed it twice. We did that just to see if anyone is actually reading this stuff

Mark LeBlanc
Jon Will the meta data sharing still work when a CL-WiFI is connected to the 1st 788?

Marc Wielage
Doh, I'm excited about the faster drive formatting! It takes forever just to format a 32GB CF card...
danelonsdale
Digital limiters! Lovely.
pindrop
Digital limiters! Lovely. Agreed, a first I believe well done SD.
Marc Wielage
On the other hand... I hate when this happens a few hours before an early-morning shoot: Because I love to live on the edge, I went through all the menus and did a few test recordings under 3.00, and the machine "seems" to work, and I made it through an entire job today (2 tracks only) with no issues. I'm going to try the firmware update again and see if it sticks this time. Usually, I have much better luck with this stuff...
pkautzsch
I had to change over from a 2.19 rental device that had to go back, and had a V3 788T the last two days. Worked fine on the job, except for not loading *all* settings from that file from the previous unit on the CF. I had to manually set it to write to INHDD and CF, standard setting seems to be EXHDD only. So far, no "programming errors".
VM
I have worked one week with the 3.00 on one 788 and 2.19 on the other. No I haven't had any problems with the 3.00, I am going to update the second unit.
Marc Wielage
I had to change over from a 2.19 rental device that had to go back, and had a V3 788T the last two days. Worked fine on the job, except for not loading *all* settings from that file from the previous unit on the CF. I had to manually set it to write to INHDD and CF, standard setting seems to be EXHDD only. I caught that, too, but only because I'm anal enough that I meticulously went through all 106 menus to check every one of them. You'd think it would produce a warning message when it didn't connect to an EXHDD, yet it was set to record to one... Attempting to update the firmware yet again. VM
106 menus You can edit shortcuts in the menu by pressing a few seconds "play" when you are in the menu. It permits to access quickly to the important menus.
Marc Wielage
In an update situation, I'm not about to let one menu item default to a weird setting without looking at it first. Second update failed, now trying for a third. Also talked to SD support in email, no solution so far.
Marc Wielage
And my thanks to Scott Farr, who sent me a message advising me to reformat the hard drive from scratch and then installing the new firmware. That did the trick: It would be nice if Sound Devices might include this little tidbit in the ReadMe file for the upgrade. Why the machine is "happier" doing the upgrade on an empty hard drive, I have no idea. BTW, it took less than 5 seconds to reformat the drive, which was the fastest I've ever seen. Kudos to SD for pulling that off.
Gabe Stewart
Alerted sound devices support this morning to a little bug I found in this firmware update. They were able to recreate it on their machine and are now working on a patch. Switching a single input's left or right routing between post and prefade changes the setting for all inputs. VASI
With CL-8?
Gabe Stewart
Yep with CL-8 attached
rich
I thought that was always the case. Tracks could only have inputs routed to them all prefade or all postfade. Though I may be confusing that with the aux channels. But would think the same applies.
