Richard Thomas
Was having a scour around for USB-AES solutions and came across DirectOut technologies.http://www.directout.eu/en/products/index.html They do a few products based around MADI conversion, and some which work with existing RME expresscard interfaces. They're also DC powered with hirose connectors (!) and can even take a redundant power supply. Most interesting are the EXBOX.UMAhttp://www.directout.eu/en/products/exbox.uma.html and the EXBOX.AEShttp://www.directout.eu/en/products/exbox.aes.html
Philip Perkins
Thanks--very cool. Any idea of prices? philp
Richard Thomas
The UMA is EUR 650 and the AES is EUR 1150 I'd like it if they did the UMA with AES rather than ADAT, though (yes, the redesigning's commenced)
Gotham Sound
Take a look at our video we shot at NAB of Directout - https://vimeo.com/64044025 They have a lot of great location friendly MADI products. In particular, I love their MADI headphone amplifier! Peter Full disclosure: We sell and use Directout products.
lamacchiacosta
Hello, anyone has the EXBOX.UMA and can tell us how good and reliable is it? Thanks. Emanuele --- Answer to myself. Apparently not. I just bought one myself and I hope to be able to review that soon.
lamacchiacosta
Hi, after a while using it I can confirm is a quite good little box. I bought it to replace my old M-Audio Lightbridge (which support stopped for the new OS) for my home studio to keep using all my ADAT hardwares. Drivers works well in OSX Yosemite and I don't have annoyances to report, so far. ----- Has now drivers for MacOS Sierra:http://www.directout.eu/en/support/legacy/
