RadoStefanov
Just worked 630 feet down and then 4000 ft horizontal tunnel under lake mead. 115f 90% humidity for 5 hours. Maxx worked without a single issue. Extreme condition performance - CHECK
Audio Daddyo
I have an ergonomic question. When you go into record on the Maxx does it require two hands? If so how are you able to do this while running and gunning with a boom in one hand? Thanks, Andy
glenn
It requires only 1 hand and a single button press to go into record, stop or play. PFL is also a 1 hand function. Glenn
Chris Campion
I have a similar question about panning.. One hand or two? Thanks
glenn
One hand to pan as well. No shifted keys are utilized. All common mixing functions are designed to be single hand controls. Glenn
Olle Sjostrom
Oh how I long for the day when you can control your mixer via mind control. Then we'll be, and look like, the ultimate wack jobs on set.

Nick Campbell
But Senator, that'd involve me having to work. No really I got it squared.
Jack Norflus
Andy All functions are single button operations. The only thing on the entire machine that requires two buttons being pressed at the same time is going into the headphone setup matrix. But even that can be done with one hand since the two buttons are the headphone and the menu button - which are right next to each other. Chris Campion
Thanks Glenn, sounds promising. In the manual I gather you have to be in an ENG setting, then press 'BUS', then scroll the menu button to the channel in question, then click it to toggle through 'L,C,R,-' I tend to do a great deal of quick panning so i'm wondering if I will keep needing to press the bus button or will it remain in a panning-enabled state after pressing once? I'd be all new to Zax so it would take a lot of getting used to I imagine. Will certainly need to play with one first.

Thats correct. From my brief playing with Maxx it remains in Pan mode until you hit the back button/HP knob, just like the nomad. The draw back is you cant trim or go into menus whilst in Pan mode. They are not the quickest machines in regards to panning. You do get used to their way of panning but I don't believe it is as efficient as a pan knob. resonate
From the Zaxcom webpage, i see that Nomad stays at 96khz. Will it have an option to record in 192khz in the future?
glenn
Nomad records 4 channels at 192 right now with 1 second of prerecord. We will change the web site to reflect the feature. Glenn
franky03
My Maxx has arrived in Montreal Nice! I'll have the weekend to get acquainted... thank you Zaxcom! Franky
Jack Norflus
Perhaps other Nomad/Maxx users can chime in regarding the pan functionality - but I personally don't find it to be an issue. I takes a bit of time to get use to but after that all is good. All machine are different and have pluses and minuses and are layed out differently. For example I personally don't like the panning in the 664, for me my fingers are way to fat to successfully pop up the pan knob and pan the input without bumping the fader. But for others this may not be an issue.
Zack
The pan on the 664 is far easier and faster to work with (even with my big hands) compared to Nomad. I can't say the same for the gain and HP pots of the 664 though. I use "unshifted" with my nomad so I can just press certain functions to start immediately instead of holding and waiting. This however causes other functions to become 2 hand work a rounds like using the BUS menu for panning. I'd like the BUS button to act as it does in shifted mode for unshifted. fieldmixer
Panning is unfortunately not fun in nomad. I wish I had the option to disable the "P" in the panning cycle. I end up sending a momentary prefade signal when wanting to pan. I use the bus panning page because the other option, getting out of my home screen is even more of a hassle. Maybe if I could choose to eliminate some screens... Anyway panning not fun. unfortunate.

John Blankenship
" Send any suggestions to Zaxcom. " PLEASE!! But, Mike, if everyone called companies first with their questions, your post count here would go down to nearly zero and you'd be left seeking a new hobby! Plus, for most of us here this is a community and we share things.
Wandering Ear
Nomad records 4 channels at 192 right now with 1 second of prerecord. We will change the web site to reflect the feature. Glenn I can't select sample rates higher than 96k in my nomad. How do you access 192k?
glenn
Sorry I meant to say Maxx records 4 Channels at 192Khz right now. Not Nomad. Glenn
Chris Campion
I don't see a problem with the panning method as long as it can click between L C and R at the same time as the faders being adjusted. Eg. Fading down boom and pushing a radio onto that mix track.
Audio Daddyo
Thanks Jack and Glenn for answering my how to go into record question. I heard differently and glad to learn I was told incorrectly and that it appears to be a very easy to do. Thanks, Andy Oh and Jack I have no problems panning on my 664.
