Powerbook Memory

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

Any suggestions on a brand of memory to upgrade my g4?  And maybe a place to get it?

Thanks,

Tom

My opinion on this, and I am probably in the minority, is to go only with Apple ram, from Apple and installed by Apple, particularly if you are talking about a PowerBook. There have been so many problems that ultimately can be tied to "bad" ram because the architecture is such that the tolerance for ram is very tight (and difficult to sort out or certify). This is not to say that I haven't had bad ram from Apple, and I have, but sorting out a problem induced by ram installation goes much better if it is ram that has been purchased from Apple and installed by them. This has been my experience in the past (having owned just about every Mac ever released and having upgraded the ram at some point in every one of them).

Others can chime in with their experiences...  I am not saying this is the only way to go.

Regards,  Jeff Wexler
