pvanstry
So here is my new kortwich bag for my 664 rig. It took a long time ( close to 5 months ) to get it and costed around 900$cdn. But it is well worth it. I have absolutly no back pain at all even after 3 days of shooting 12-16 hours days running. I made a flap in the back ( against the body ) to open and insert a CL6, held in place by velcro. Works like a charm. At the end you can see the bag in cart mode. berniebeaudry
Gorgeous Pascal! Is the rig hard to put on when you're using just a belt?
Max Hirtenstein
looks great. custom waist strap? mine doesn't have that much padding all around.
Philip Perkins
Well done again--I like the "convertible" aspects of your rig re CL6 or not. Is that a bag Kortwich made to your spec or a stock item? And tell us more about your groovy goose-neck slate mic! Your "one-stand-cart" isn't too tippy with all that weight on it? When you move locations, do you pull the gear off or can you get it in you vehicle all built? philp
pvanstry
Thanks guys. Bag is custom to my spec but I am sure they have all the measurements in store. Groovy mic is a homemade mic. It is an old lav directional a friend gave me. Then I used a flexible gooseneck taken from a cheap wind filter. Simple but really works well. The stand is great but I indeed have to take the gear off during moves. I drive a Mini Cooper clubman so everything is too big. But I have more ideas to come for a cart... seth
For the bag where do you put your tranies, batts, tape, headphones, ect..? Fanny pack? Does the waste belt make you pee every 30min? And it looks like you live in the woods. Do you have a spare bed room?
John Steigerwald
That's a tight setup. Nice work! How was your experience dealing with Kortwich for custom work? Did you spec it by bag measurements or by gear and configuration?
johnpaul215
That looks great! The wireless/NP1 chassis and low profile XLRs were cool on their own, but make so much sense in this configuration. that's awesome! This is really well done. Have you weighed it with the 3 SR RXs in it? Do you also wear a shoulder harness, or is the belt enough to support it for a full day on your feet? pvanstry
Max - indeed custom waist strap. Works great. Seth - no problem with peeing!!! I also attach two chalk bag ( climbing stuff ) to my belt so that the accesories have a space. Mostly when people hand me things in a hurry. For the rest ( headphone, extra bat etc... ) I have the front pocket. John - kortwich was great. Translation slowed everything and they usually take 48 hours per response. I made a very detailed document ( measurement, example, description etc... ). I also made a cardboard model of the bag in construction paper with different color for different thing ( ex: male Velcro was green and female red .). There was no issues at all. John Paul - no shoulder harness at all. I keep a shoulder strap on it for carrying it from set to set. ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN OR DISCOMFORT AFTER A FULL DAY!!! And it take a second to take off so I do during the day. Another benefit is the ability to swing it aside to clear the front when putting a lav on someone. Weight is hard to say but it is so close to myself that it feels like a 302 kit on a harness. It's really a revolution for me.
studiomprd
I don't like the color...
drpro
Pascal are the mounts that the Petrol bags use for their accessory pouches now standard from Kortwich? I mounted some on my Kortwich bag and sent the pictures to Kortwich. I had hoped they would add them to the mix. Thanks and great job. pvanstry
The mounts are available from kortwich. They installed them. They were very nice to work with. Great German efficiency. Thanks
Jack Norflus
So with regard the flap on the back is it permanently attached to the bag and it just flips down?
Christian Hermans
They were very nice to work with. Great German efficiency. Also they are always helpful, with things they can do better on these custom bags! If you send them your ideas and there is something wrong or you forget something in your layout, they will immediately send you better solutions for it. Nice work Pascal! Philip Perkins
So how much more expensive was this than a standard bag made for the 664? Twice as much? Less? thanks philp
pvanstry
Jack - the flap is part of the bag. It is held in place by Velcro. Actually every surface of the bag ( inside ) is Velcro. Mostly female. Philip - Kortwich standard bags vary widely in price but rarely go over 500$cdn. Mine was 900$.
Jack Norflus
- Kortwich standard bags vary widely in price but rarely go over 500$cdn. Mine was 900$. Just curious what did you to to yours to account for almost double the price?

Derek H
Nice job. The cl6 adaptability is genius. May have to try the waist belt only method.
berniebeaudry
Pascal, You must have missed my question. How difficult is it to get the rig on and off when you're using just the waist belt?
