Brian Milliken
Hi All Is anyone using a 742 with a Schoeps CCM 41 successfully ? Regards Brian
Cloud Wang
Cmc641 is fine. Ccm8 getting RF issue.
Matthias Richter
CCM in general are extremly sensitive to RFI. I use my 742 with CMIT and CMC641. Even the CMIT needed the EMC XLR to get clean signal.
Wandering Ear
My primary boom op right now is wireless full time using CMC641 or CMIT on a TRX742. No problems so far. Don't plug directly into the mic, always use at least a short cable and the interference won't be a problem.
VM
A friend of mine, who is working for radio, use a CMC6 plus MK5 (or MK2) plugged directly in the TRX742 (for journalist). It works perfectly.
Cloud Wang
yes cmc641 can be directly plug into the 742,no problem at all.but not ccm,RF wise
Wandering Ear
Maybe I should try it again. Last time I plugged in directly, I got interference. I also get interference on my lector hm transmitter (2nd wireless boom) if it's too close to the 742.
Mark Orusa
I don't know about a CCM41, but there is a good discussion about some other mics like the CMC/MK41 combo having issues with the 742 over on the Zaxcom forum: http://www.zaxcom.com/forum/showthread.php?16787-Trx-742-rf-spill Mark O. Prahlad Strickland
experiencing 742 + ccm41 interference issues here. working with Phillipe over at cinela to try and knuckle it down. The 5m cable that comes with the mic direct into the 742 is fine, even when the mic is very close to the 742.... In a cinela Pianissimo, no good. In a rycote... no good. I noticed the original cable that comes with, uses an emc connector at the male xlr end. even when I use an extension from the original schoeps cable, then into a 742, the problem isn't there. Which makes me obviously think the emc is a perfect fix. I will keep this thread up to date with a proper fix once we find it, fingers crossed. seems pretty solid proof though that the emc circuit is definately fixing the problem. Unless the schoeps cable has also amazing sheilding or something... Prahlad
rich
Break the connection between the shell and pin 1 in the XLR. This cured a lot of problems with mine.
John Blankenship
Break the connection between the shell and pin 1 in the XLR. This cured a lot of problems with mine. I've found this can go either way -- sometimes grounding the shell helps, whereas sometimes ungrounding is better. RF gremlins can be tricky little buggers. rich
agreed. i have 2 cinela mounts for my CCM41s. the newer plastic one seems to pick up more from the 742, but is fine with the 700. and moving the jumper cable form the back of the mic to the XLR seems to affect things, so my guess is that is where the rf is being picked up. but i have found that with the Cinela mount and the zaxcom transmitters, a combination of cutting the wire between pin 1 and the shell, and taping the antenna of the tx to the boom pole cures most of it. The "taping the antenna to the pole" solution brings the question, "Have you tried lowering the 742 power?"
rich
yep. not as effective.
Prahlad Strickland
Great thanks rich. Is the buzz still there or just lessened. Considering the included cable has a ecm with absolutely zero buzz. I'm trying to see if I can implement the ecm some how as well
rich
Should be completely eliminated. I think I put en EMC on one of the cinela mounts, but didn't find it changed a great deal for me.
Prahlad Strickland
Should be completely eliminated. I think I put en EMC on one of the cinela mounts, but didn't find it changed a great deal for me. Thanks rich, I clipped pin 1 to the shell, taped the antenna to the boom pole, and walah, gone... funky fix, but works. so i'm happy to be wireless with ccm41. hopefully this works with the minix, haven't tried yet. I haven't tested yet, but not sure this would work when mounted up near the ccm41. Mine is mounted on a loon boom down below.
Prahlad Strickland
Funny thing is, I don't get a buzz when using the minix cinela mount. And that's plugging directly into the minix mount itself. If I plug directly into the bottom of the pianissimo, i of course get the buzz.
