Jim Feeley
Note that the guy runs the headphones through a $1000+ headphone amp and a $11,000 DA. Yow. Abyss AB-1266 headphones run $5,495, but they're worth it It's the Dodge SRT Viper of high-end headphones: the AB-1266 is big, heavy, outlandishly expensive, but it sounds better -- a lot better -- than anything else! http://news.cnet.com/8301-13645_3-57591530-47/abyss-ab-1266-headphones-run-$5495-but-theyre-worth-it/

Jon Gilbert
I don't drive a Viper to work, so I wouldn't listen to it's headphone equivalent
John Blankenship
These will only sound proper if the amp has the $500 wooden knobs on it. Also consider that for $5495 you could just get your ears re-tuned.

Jaymz
Actually not that surprising a price tag for electro-static headphones. Stax are the big company for those.

soundtrane
guys - these are NOT closed. so - a no-no for production sound... One first look at that picture and i say - this is probably the worst design for a pair of headphones. even Dr. Dre has a better industrial design... Jesper Magnusson
I wonder if they can give the Sony MDR-R10 a run for it's money? 2000 of them was made and they go up used for comparative prices... I'd love to try any of these, but if I had that kind of money to spend on headphones, I'd rather go for a smyth system. I hope the technology will be cheaper some day. Eric Toline
Apparently they use the Planar Magnetic principle, same as my Magnapan Magnaplanar speakers at home.
OmahaAudio
It's the Dodge SRT Viper of high-end headphones IMO the Dodge Viper sucks. Now, if it were the Bentley Continental GT of headphones...
Bash
Eric - are the pot plants special to augment the Maggies? What type are they? ;-)) This reminds me of the debates about the brand of toilet paper used to make the Yamaha NS10 speakers sound less toppy!! sb
