Jim Feeley
The US public radio program To The Best of Our Knowledge just repeated a show from last Fall: ==== Surrounded by Sound In this hour, we find ourselves surrounded by sound. The sounds of nature, cosmic horror, capitalism, and experimental electronics. ==== The hour is built of interviews with several people. Three that stood out (at least to me): Naturalist and soundscape artist Bernie Krause talks about his book, "The Great Animal Orchestra: Finding the Origins of Music in the World's Wild Places." Timothy Taylor talks about his book, "The Sounds of Capitalism: Advertising, Music, and the Conquest of Culture." Electronic music pioneer Suzanne Ciani talks about her electronic music and sound work. For those already familiar with Krause and Ciani, the interviews most likely don't contain anything you don't already know about their work. But still, nice to hear them describe their thoughts about sound.
