SNA600a is "Swiss Navy Antenna", improved version

We've added a series capacitor to the SNA600 to make it the "a" version. The previous version was a DC short to ground. This new capacitor makes it easier to use with the Venue receiver or others that provide a DC bias on the antenna port for powering remote, amplified antennas.

Actually, the capacitor can be added with a little care to previous SNA600's. Any surface mount ceramic capacitor from 100 pF to 1000 pF can be used. If you need the cap, send name and address to larryf@lectrosonics.com for a freebie.

If we had had our Lectro heads screwed on tight, we'd have put the cap on the original design.

p.s. It does not affect the antenna RF performance, good or bad.

thanks Larry.

any chance of a note for those brave enough to try and add the capacitor ourselves?

like where it ought to go?

Dean is putting a sheet together that shows the trace to cut and scrape to solder in the capacitor. It definitely can be done by anyone with an iron smaller than a Black Beauty plumber's iron heated with a blowtorch. We will send the sheet out with the capacitors. Dean will do it as his next project. Email me and I'll put you on the list: larryf@lectrosonics.com

Hi Larry

Sorry for the small offtopic :-) How easy is to get SNA600 spare parts? I'm looking to buy a used SNA600 but has 1 of the two arm extentions missing, But before I consider buying it I would like to know how easy would it be to put back to shape again.

Regards

Call Lectrosonics and ask for "parts" and they'll tell you exactly how much.

Is the "a" version SNA600 available for purchase?  I just picked up a VR FIeld this week and need to purchase antennas so i might as well try and grab the "a" since the timing of my purchase seems about right!

Larry, a couple of days I received via USPS a few stapled sheets with instructions for the conversion, but nothing else. I'm assuming that's coming in a separate package, yes?

TIA,

BK

PS: I'll be visiting Mom in ABQ in two weeks - I might want to visit your facilities, as she lives 20' from you. Do you take visitors?

I received mine a couple days ago, there were three small capacitors taped to the front page. Easy to miss as they are very small, i thought they were missing at first, but they are there.

Hi Blas,

We may have to use something besides invisible tape. I'll have them circle the tiny parts in red on the front page from now on. If you can't find them, nag me at larryf@lectrosonics.com and we'll send another set.

Let us know when you want to come for a tour. If you come at lunch time, you may really make out.

Best Regards,

Larry,

Can you send out an instruction sheet explaining how we can draw our own circle?  That would eliminate the need to return it to have a factory approved circle drawn.

Thanks.

Pretty good, John, pretty good.

Well, I feel like an idiot…

You can still have a tour.
