I've used BBlist in these situations. 10% commission. Not as straight forward as Ebay but as safe if not safer due to real people admin.

If they are legal in any country then they should sell at the right price.

a friend of mine has got them retuned in Hamburg Germany for about 300 or 400 Euro each tx/rx pair. so it must be possible anyhow

Retuned 2020s!

I was always told by my dealer (who was told by Audio Ltd) that there was an RoHS difficulty with retuning 2020s and therefore they could not be retuned. The same doesn't apply to 2040s - they can be retuned (officially).

Interesting Julian.

Hi julian would like to know where in Hamburg.

Thanks Michael

I highly recommend a pm between you guys. Otherwise the shop may get into trouble and subsequently those who have had their 2020s retuned there

As an alternative option I know that here in the UK there is a trade in option..............You can trade in the 2020's in exchange of discount on a new set of 2040's.

Haha I haven't heard that but I will inquire next time I call Audio ltd :D

We do have 2040 kits on the shelf at the moment and done a few trade ins already. So if you decide to do a trade rather than a re-tune your welcome to give us a call.

It seems to me that Audio Ltd can retune your TX and DX.

You should ask them.

Audio Ltd can retune 2040s but the components required to retune 2020s are no longer available due to RoHS. Anything above 800mHz and soon 700mHz is unlikely to be any use in the future as these frequencies are being reallocated to mobile data. Your best bet is to take advantage of the trade in. Just a few hundred euros but better than the bin.

Can you still work without any integrated scanner ? Despite I love the 2040's sound, in my opinion you should exchange 2020 with EN2.

Hi VM,

Here is a couple of links to both the the user manuals for the 2040 Transmitter and Receiver. Hopefully they will answer your question. :)

No it's not answering my question.

My question was : "Can you still work without any integrated scanner ?"

I have worked for years with 2020 and 2040, I know them pretty good, they were very popular here in France. They do not have an integrated scanner (I know that with a palm the 2040... a palm today !? )

Zaxcom, Lectro, Wisycom, Audio Ltd EN2, ...and even G2 and G3 : they all get scanners IN their receivers.

I think you will find that the next generation of 2040's will adopt the scanner

I really hope it.

" so I would like to know if they are legal in any country. "

they are not: "legal in any country"...

they are legal in some countries.

Once again, Mike ads nothing to the conversation.

How can an owner, or a shop, get into trouble for retuning things to make them transmit/receive on legal frequencies? It would seem that both are following the spirit of the law by not wanting to use illegal frequencies. Unless, of course, it's an RoHS thing in which case there out to be some sort of cost/benefit analysis done to allow it.
