studiomprd
There is a special option available to Small Production Companies under “The Affordable Care Act.” This option allows Small Production Companies to offer employees insurance coverage on a “Self Pay Basis”. All insurance carriers, in all states, are required to comply with this program!!!. Small Production Company employers must apply for this coverage during a Special Open Enrollment Period from November 15, 2013 to December 15, 2013 for a January 1, 2014 effective date. A Small Production Company is defined as a company with at least one (1) W-2 employee and less than fifty (50) Full Time W-2 employees during the Special Open Enrollment Period. This option permits Small Production Company employees to obtain insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act on a “Self Pay Basis” with no obligation to the Small Production Company employer. The only caveat is that employees must pay the plan’s premium through a payroll deduction. Freelancers who receive a Form 1099 cannot participate in this option. Small Production Company employers electing this option may avoid fines in the future in the event the number of Full Time W-2 employees exceeds fifty (50). If you fail to set up a plan during the Special Open Enrollment period then you will lose the opportunity until November 15, 2014.
