Bpeterson
My K-Tek boom 102 is in need of basic maintenance. Any advice from DIYers. Dos and Don'ts. How to remove and clean the collars. I'm having to tighten the collars more than usuall. I know I can send it off to get done, I prefer spending the money on needed gear. dfisk
" basic maintenance. ": Dave Fisk of K-Tek has already posted this info... I did, and I tried using the forum search to find my original post about this, and it isn't working. I even did a search on "boom pole" and nothing came up. Let me do some digging to see if I can find it.

Jim Feeley
Dave, maybe expand on your comment in the thread Mike just linked to (like talk about internal cable maintanence), add a few pix, make the thing into a webpage and post it somewhere. Maybe ktekbooms.com? :-) That'd be a great place for the info to live, I think...
dfisk
I did a really long write up within the past few months. Maybe it was on the freelance sound facebook page. I need to get a video of this done. In short: -take the pole completely apart -clean each section with a non abrasive towel and basic cleaner. Something like Simple Green or Windex. -check stop tape to make sure it is in good shape. If it needs to be replaced contact us. You cannot get that stuff in any store. It is made specifically for us. -clean the threads of the sleeves if they need it. I like to use an old toothbrush. -cleaning the insides of the collars is difficult if they are still on the pole. To remove the collar from the pole you need to remove the stop tape and you'll be able to slide the collar off. You can clean the inside of the collar the same way you did the sleeves. If you take the stop tape off you will need to replace it with new stop tape. -make sure the cable is free of kinks and twists. -we use Protectall (www.protectall.com) as a final "waxing" on the pole. -put it back together. studiomprd
" I did search in the forum first before posting. " the site's search is known to be, er, wonky... folks active here know the best results are using Google, with jwsoundgroup.net as the first search term... dfisk
I did search in the forum first before posting. maybe I used wrong keywords. Yeah. I tried searching for it and I couldn't find anything, and I used the correct keywords.
pkautzsch
Resurrecting this thread because of a maintenance/replacement issue, can't find the German or EU distributor for K-Tek (Google search brings up different dealers who apparently don't have K-Tek products anymore). Top section of my 251 got a hit from a golf club today and has a slight dent with a small crack - as it's carbon fiber I guess it needs replacing, right? Dave, can you point me to the current distributor in EU if there is one? Thank you

It seems to be pretty much a camera place, with their audio section consisting only of K-Tek. Plus, like you said, a Google search for K-Tek brings up virtually nothing (in Germany). But, good to know there actually is someone there.
pkautzsch
They are nice to deal with, and even had an employee deliver a part directly to my door (being based in Munich area) to save on shipping.
KGraham045
I sent my 102 Klassik pole in to KTek a couple weeks ago for basic maintence. It was extremely affordable, fast and the pole looks and operates like new. Worth sending in to them
