Matt
Hi, I am thinking about making a move to Chicago and was wondering what the work opportunities were like for ENG, commercials, TV, film, etc. Feel free to contact me off the list directly. Thanks in advance. Matt
Eric Toline
Chicago is a strong union town so look into joining 476. It also gets very cold there in the winter, colder than you ever thought possible. Look into the cost of living and one of the highest sales tax rates in the country. OmahaAudio
This is important to know (the part about Chicago-style "pizza", not the part about the towers). http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-november-13-2013/tower-record

Matt Mayer
No! Stay Away! It's cold 10 months a year here! There's no work, we're all selling pencils on the street corner! Seriously, work has been pretty steady in the market. I think most guys have been pretty happy with this year. There are currently 6 shows in town, plus a couple of features, so all of those crews have been busy. The cost of living is high relative to the rest of the Midwest, but still less than NYC or LA. old school
Friendly people, or so they seemed, on the three times I worked there. CrewC
Matt
Ha! Thanks guys! You know how scary it can be in our profession to try to relocate when you've already spent years building up a client base elsewhere. I am in the union in local 492. I guess I can always transfer. It would be worth a call. And, Matt, I'm an expert pencil salesman. Matt
