Chris Woodcock
Congrats to all. Seems as if Chris Munro has a good shot at winning... CrewC Agreed I think Gravity was one of the best sounding films I have heard this year. Granted there are a few on the list I haven't seen yet but still think it's the strongest out there. studiomprd
Bash: "I wonder whether two nominations might split one's vote!! " as opposed to doubling ones' chances ?? actually, not if the voters are choosing the movie soundtrack they think is the best sounding, and most complimentary to the storytelling; that is what the award is for. It is not a production sound mixing award.
OmahaAudio
'American Hustle' ~ Tom Williams, Myron Nettinga, John Ross 'Captain Phillips' ~ Chris Munro, Oliver Tarney, Chris Burdon 'Gravity' ~ Chris Munro, Glenn Freemantle, Skip Lievsay 'Inside Llewyn Davis' ~ Peter K. Kurland, Skip Lievsay, Greg Orloff 'Rush' ~ Danny Hambrook, Frank Kruse, Martin Steyer Well, I've seen one (Gravity). The others (story-wise) didn't seem worth going to the cinema for, so I'll wait until they get to Netflix. Although with Captain Phillips I'll probably wait until it gets to network cable. OmahaAudio
Just sayin'... The sound may be great but there's gotta be a story that I want to see.
old school
I haven't seen Rush yet, but the others are all worthy of the award and ones time to see the film in my opinion. CrewC
RPSharman
I haven't seen "Rush" either, although I met James Hunt when I was a boy. Must have been around 1978. He was driving the coolest car I had ever seen. The other movies were all very good, and all sounded great. I seem to remember a full-card credit, before the actors, for Peter of "Llewyn". It was a great sounding film. Actual film too, I think.
Christian Spaeth
Rush is great. I strongly recommend it. You don't have to care at all for racing, but the story just sucks you in, and the acting's also top notch, as is the score by Hans Zimmer etc etc.
