JonG
A lot of poles have their own quick release systems. My Loons came with some, and had I known before ordering the poles, I would have requested them without, since it means that the first collar of the pole releases the tip, which confuses my boom ops on the first try even if I tell them, lol. "Third Party" QRs are convenient because many of us have multiple poles from various companies. Ive been using the SGSv2 QRs since their release and have had zero problems with them. All my poles and shock mounts have them and they have been nothing but reliable. Gene puts a lot of special care into making sure that his products meet the highest standards, and knowing his level of standards places my faith in his OK easily! Nate C
it means that the first collar of the pole releases the tip, which confuses my boom ops on the first try even if I tell them, lol. I am going to admit to doing this the other week using someone else's K-tek pole… ok doing it twice. My K-tek doesn't have a removable tip. Freaked the bejeazus out of me. Jeremiah Sheets
I'm looking into the Sound Guys Solutions BPQR. Can anyone tell me how much length this adds to the pole? It looks like after it is threaded to the pole it adds less than 1", but I need to confirm that before I pick it up as I only have 1" to spare in my case.Thanks. mark kirchner
Hi Jeremiah, Sound Guys Solutions will add 1 1/2 inches. Mark
Jeremiah Sheets
Hi Jeremiah, Sound Guys Solutions will add 1 1/2 inches. Mark Darn. That's just the threaded pole piece, right? Are there other solutions that will add less than 1"?
mark kirchner
After The Sound Guys quick release is screwed on to the boom pole, (without the the threaded part that is attached to the shock mount) you will add 1 1/2 inches the the length of the boom pole. I hope this answers your question.
Jeremiah Sheets
Yep it does. I have a Loon on the way which comes with a TogLoc system, which I'm understanding is a semi quick release, but I'm really not seeing any useful info on it to confirm. Marcelo Scofield
This is a combination of a Orca QR, a Rycote XLR Holder MKII, a Rycote INV7HG MK III, a low-profile right angle XLR connector (http://www.toyrobotstudios.com/trsblog/2013/5/24/diy-right-angle-xlrf-connectors) and a Mogami W2697 cable. Cheaper then the Ambient similar products.
Marcelo Scofield
My guess is the Orca quick release would be one inch. Edited November 18, 2015 by Marcelo Scofield
Jeremiah Sheets
Thanks. I'll look into that. The Loon and im2720 should be arriving tomorrow so I'll see what I have to play with for sure.
Jeremiah Sheets
I see 1.5" here, but once it is crewed into the pole it is less I assume.

QR+tip will add 1.3" between boom and shock mount. QR adds 1.1" to the boom (with no tip and no shock mount)
Jeremiah Sheets
Bummer. I'll have to see what this TogLoc is tomorrow.
