Laurie Webb Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 TIG Timecode Generator Durability Test I love durability tests and think they are so much fun. So we decided to do a video showing the TIG (timecode generator) being driven over by a truck and dropped off the back. It survived very well (especially considering we drove over it about 20 times and dropped it over 30.) So here's a TIG and a truck: https://plus.google.com/112281036772159173979/posts Laurie 480-292-9060 lauriew@mozegear.com www.mozegear.com Quote

Jim Feeley Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Cute video Laurie. Reminds me of the Countryman ads from the 1970s that showed the wheel of Carl's van on top of a Type 85 direct box. Tag line: It holds up on the road. They certainly did/do. Oh…they have an updated version of the picture here: http://www.countryman.com/type-85-direct-box Quote

Philip Perkins Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Well, I've dropped mine (sorry Laurie), and it still works. philp Quote

However we have a couple of Countryman DI's and I will say they are very well built. Quote
Laurie Webb Posted February 27, 2014 Author Report Posted February 27, 2014 But can it withstand sudden, sharp force? Like a drop? Hi Matt, I agree with you that the real test comes when dropped and since I like durability tests it was too much of a challenge to ignore. So today a couple of guys in the office decided to run further “drop” tests. They used the same TIG that was repeatedly run over and dropped in the video. It did extremely well. In fact I am looking at it now. The corners are a bit scratched and the BNC is a little bent but it still works great. Also one of the advantages of the TIG is the 2nd output. We are making another video showing todays “tests”. Stay tuned... P.S. TIG FS. Demo unit but barely used. Scratched a bit but works great! LOL (JK) Quote
