Juan José Luzuriaga
Hello, I want to do a mod in the direct outs of my CS106, like the one Vark Audio offers. The problem is that I live in Ecuador, South America, and sending the unit to them would be a little difficult. So I contacted a local electronics engineer and he told me that he needs the service manual, because the diagrams in the operators manual that I gave him don't have all the information he needs. Does anyone have the service manual of the CS106 or know where to find it? I sent an e.mail to coopersoundsystems@gmail.com, but they haven't answered yet. Thanks. David Waelder
Since he retired, Andy Cooper has sometimes been slow to respond to inquiries although I understand that he does reply. I would contact the shops that regularly service the mixers and ask if they could make a copy of their manual for you. The places near me would include: Location Sound Services http://www.locationsound.com/ (I don't know who is in charge of the Service Dept. these days but you could direct your request to David Panfili, the CEO) and Trew Audio http://www.trewaudio.com/ (Direct your inquiry to Forrest Forbes) and The Audio Department http://audiodept.com/ (Direct your inquiry to Gene Martin) There are also numerous resources in New York City (Gotham, Pro-Sound, etc.) and in other cities. Scott Smith
Also, be aware that Andy tended to change various aspects of his mixer designs over the years. Some are documented, others not so well...

Tom Visser
I would be interested in one for my CS306. I emailed Andy a long time ago, but didn't get a response.
Jim Gilchrist
Try contacting Vark, Juan. I'll bet they'd be willing to sell you the boards and provide instructions. It's not just a few mods to the channel strips, but the board is based around an op amp socket which just plugs in to one that's replaced in the mod, but does involve some point-to-point wiring It should be noted that Andy Cooper mentions two recommended service vendors for his mixers: Forest Forbes at Trew Audio LA and Evan Mater at Vark Audio in Cabin John MD, just outside Washington, DC. See Andy's letter here. Don't overlook Vark as a source for both technical information and repairs. They have all the supporting documentation provided by Cooper Sound for all versions of their products and have seen them all. Evan is also making a direct output board like the original design for the CS104 which is adaptable to some other small mixers (for a price, of course) and a direct out mod for the CS106+1/108+1 series boards Juan mentions which provides a balanced line level prefader output which is post EQ, unlike the bridged effx loop method many use. The 106/108 mod also replaces an older op amp design on each channel strip and a pair in the EQ section, improving overall performance. Mirror
Ahh, I overlooked the difference that you mentioned in wanting a service manual as opposed to a operators manual. Hope you find one.
