Jim Feeley
A friend saw the NAGRA Seven at NAB a couple weeks ago and walked away sadly unimpressed. Said it felt like a cheap knockoff: http://www.nagraaudio.com/pro/pages/products_nagra_7.php Looks like two channels for $2500 or so. But maybe my friend's wrong. Anyone here know anything more about it?
studiomprd
jim: " Anyone here know anything more about it? " yes, of course... " Looks like it lists for $2500 or so " it is a rather significant "or so" to $3300 (basic). " sadly unimpressed " unimpressed, or perhaps uninterested ? this machine was not what your friend was expecting; it was not designed for what your friend, and many of us, are currently looking for, and is not designed to compete with what we are looking at.. While NAGRA's were at one time 'our only alternative', production sound for movies was not NAGRA's only market, never! Currently, NAGRA is huge in several major market sectors (which is what I was driving at by posting the seminar program they are sponsoring) and the audio recorder business has been spun-off to a separate company, thus is no longer part of Kudelski group. Like the NAGRA 6, the NAGRA 7 is a superb machine, and impressive, though only 2 channels, there is a significant market for this unit (not typically us) especially with the announced CODEC and WiFi features installed. " sadly unimpressed " I know lots of folks who were impressed with the Zoom H4n.
