Jeff Wexler
I was in one of my local Radio Shack stores today (a "re-designed" one --- they've closed the others) and I saw the rather extensive and new display for Beats headphones, speakers and accessories. There were about 8 different styles you could try on and listen to program material ("music", maybe?) --- the interesting thing was, all the headphones were displayed on round mirrors, sort of like how you look at and shop for sunglasses. So, I guess a lot more goes into the buying decision than how do they sound. How do I look? Radio Shack display - Beats
Philip Perkins
You look like you with overpriced headphones on. Please tell me you didn't buy them! philp
Jeff Wexler
You look like you with overpriced headphones on. Please tell me you didn't buy them! philp Of course I didn't buy them (even though they are quite the fashion statement). I really was just struck by the fact that someone in marketing decided that when trying on headphones it was a great idea to have a mirror available. Philip Perkins
I think you are correct--having a mirror to "try on" headphones with speaks volumes (so to speak). I think this might be a somewhat short-lived fad…. philp
Jack Norflus
You should put a mirror on your cart.
jrd456
I still think a ghetto blaster on your right shoulder is a better look. J.D.
Marc Wielage
Of course I didn't buy them (even though they are quite the fashion statement). I really was just struck by the fact that someone in marketing decided that when trying on headphones it was a great idea to have a mirror available. The Beats Headphones are definitely a fashion statement these days. I'm bewildered by the dozen-or-so people I see every time I go to the gym, sweating and pumping iron with those damned things on. They've gotta get very sweaty and grimy after only 15 minutes. I'm much, much happier with Sony EXR-90 earbuds -- which were the best Sony made a few years ago (about $100). Fantastic sound, very light weight, and tiny as can be.
