Marc Wielage
Terrific piece. Doug Trumbull is one of the few genuine geniuses in film history, and though I'm iffy about the need to ramp up film speed frame rates, I admire the fact that he's trying to change things for the better. I look forward to hearing what he says in his speech in Toronto later on this week.
myke2241
high frame rates have their place. I'm just no so convinced its in cinema. maybe " UFOTOG " will changed that.
Angelo Waldron
Whatever porn comes out on will be our standard frame rate.

Marc Wielage
A porn actress went on the Howard Stern show not long ago, and when he asked about high-def, she sighed and said, "there are some things you don't want to see in super-sharp resolution." Or words to that effect. More from Trumbull -- a really great demo he did a few years ago promoting the 120fps concept: It's interesting to reflect that this demo is from four years ago, and they're still talking about it but not doing a lot about it. "All 35mm prints all the time" He forgot to tell you only open on Friday and Saturday night. I've already seen all the Bergman and Wurtmuller films. The only way it will be a successful "Art House" is if he let's viewers light up like that theater in Fullerton!
Philip Perkins
I saw a real Showscan presentation, back in the 1980s. Underwhelmed. philp

I'm trying to figure out where he's going to get any legal 35mm prints to show in LA! As far as I know, the studios have cut all the theaters off and only send out DCPs now, even on classic movies from the last 60-70 years. Angelo Waldron
That Showscan video forgot one item.. on good studio projectors we have 3 shutter blades and more light to make up for the loss. 72 interruptions instead of 48.. makes a really smooth and even picture. Oh, yeah.. Marc.... Quentin will be only running his own prints..... until they wear out or get F'd up with no backup print, and then he will go to the backup DCP.. you know he will have it! The last print I ran was IF I STAY from WarnerBros, on 8/23. It's not just a simple thing.. who decides print or no print.. It's in the contract with the studio if they will make print, and how many... and now those contracts are coming to terms....we are done! +Hey, somebody needs to ask Quentin if digital audio is ok to use+ But, how exciting, your own porn movie theater. I am happy for him.
