Ronald
Any 633 owners out there have any experience with Oktava MC-012 mics. I originally purchased the 85hz hpf capsule for use with my PSC M4 A+, but since the 633 has the adjustable hpf starting at 80hz it would seem to make the add on capsule unnecessary. Users have also commented that the capsule is noisy.
Philip Perkins
I've never noticed an increase in noise with the low roll off modules on my MC012s…. I don't use them much, but the idea of having the rolloff before the mic head amp is to avoid overloading that module, which isn't helped by a low rolloff in the mixer. philp
VASI
From 633 manual: The 633’s High-pass Filter circuit is unique because of its placement before any electronic amplification.
Christian Spaeth
In my experience the filter does increase the noise of the mic. SD rolloff is fine so I'd take it off. Best advice would be to try for yourself.

Often the ambient noise or air handling systems in the room are such that the additional "hiss" is not noticed, but in a quite studio it defiantely is! Ronald
Thanks to all. Michael Joly confirmed and embellished all of your input. Absolutely love the Oktava. Sounds even better with the SD pre amps. And I LOVE that 633!

Rich Reilly
"The 633’s High-pass Filter circuit is unique because of its placement before any electronic amplification." Is this true in any other SD mixers? 442?

Is this true in any other SD mixers? 442? The 302's HPF is also placed before any electronic amplification. Don't know about the 442, it's a more complex variable design.
