Richard Thomas Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 Also, just a thought about some of these upcoming machines with dante/AVB connections on- how much of an issue is track count now? It's only going to be limited by processing power, media speed and whether the user interface can work with that number of channels isn't it?
pvanstry Posted January 6, 2015 Author Report Posted January 6, 2015 I love the idea of having a Dante interface in a portable recorder.
JAX Posted January 11, 2015 Report Posted January 11, 2015 Tried to email Jacques but no response so far. Hello, Never get your email... Thank you to all for your comments, we will give all information in 6 weeks from now. All the best for beautifull sounds!

Malcolm Davies Amps CAS Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 i think i must be the only 1 who likes the card slots on top. a bit of suitable piece of tape across the slots - sorted. Behave yourself Daniel. You don't pay several thousand pounds only to put a piece of tape to stop stuff going inside!!
daniel Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 Behave yourself Daniel. You don't pay several thousand pounds only to put a piece of tape to stop stuff going inside!! i'd rather that idiosyncrasy than some of the others on offer. eg. recorders without 'record' buttons. dan.
Richard Thomas Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 J -2 ! I tried to solve that, but it broke my head http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Factorial#Factorial_at_the_complex_plane

Boomboom Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 Mah! http://www.sonosax.ch/news/SONONEWS_2015_01_EN.pdf
pvanstry Posted January 29, 2015 Author Report Posted January 29, 2015 Two out on one Ta3, so unbalanced.
pvanstry Posted January 29, 2015 Author Report Posted January 29, 2015 I'm still unsure if it does actually mix or just record. Meaning does it have a similar architectur as a 664 vs a 788 type.
VASI Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 Interesting point the dynamic range. I think it's just a recorder (like 788 type). Let's see the SX-AD8+
Constantin Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 I'm still unsure if it does actually mix or just record. Meaning does it have a similar architectur as a 664 vs a 788 type. Although both of those can mix and record, although there are of course architectural differences this is not really a factor.
pvanstry Posted January 29, 2015 Author Report Posted January 29, 2015 But the question still remains, can the new R4+ mix?
Ramsay Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 This interests me....If it's simple and fast to use. Metadatas management through the TFT colour touch screen or by smart phones or tablets through integrated WiFi
Richard Thomas Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 But the question still remains, can the new R4+ mix? I'm fairly sure from Pierre's response above that's a yes, something I'm not so sure about is whether it'll be possible with the AES inputs or not. It's digital mixing (like the 788 and 633), though I was fully expecting only unbalanced outs, which does rule it out from straight to camera jobs. "Metadatas management through the TFT colour touch screen or by smart phones or tablets through integrated WiFi" This seems interesting, wondering whether this could integrate with TCB or Ambient's logging systems in the future? I hope there's a "notes" field this time
dolo72 Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 Got the Sonosax newsletter today on the way back from work -
BudRaymond Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 Excited. Wonder what the ad8 will look like.
pvanstry Posted January 29, 2015 Author Report Posted January 29, 2015 I am hanging by a thread ( this one at least ). Been waiting for this machine for a while. I put money aside for it. BUT, if it only handles outputs the way it's predecessor did, I might not be see eager to get one. I personally need at least a pair of stereo out line level and two aux sends ( one Comtek and one for a boom op. Anything less and it might not work for me since it would alter the way I work significantly. Really really hoping for it....
