Robert Buncher
I friend of mine asked if it is possible to recover the programing on an helical video tape from the early 1970"s The tape is a Sony V-32 I see that there are companies that offer this service and was wondering if anyone on JWSound has used any of these services and , if so, how did it go? Is there any company that you would recommend? Thanks, Bob
Jim Feeley
I've been associated with some projects that got old 1/2 EIAJ tape transferred by Bay Area Video Coalition in San Francisco. Wasn't my department but the producers seemed happy. BAVC does (or at least did) lots of great video preservation work. http://bavc.org/preservation/services/history I'm no expert in that field, though... Marc Wielage
A business associate of mine, David Crosthwait, does the best video archival restoration of anybody on the West coast: DC Video 177 West Magnolia Blvd. Burbank, CA 91502 http://www.dcvideo.com/ (818) 563-1073 Email: DCFWTX@aol.com Note that the V32 tapes can either be B&W or color, but they're generally B&W. Getting them to track 45 years later is not easy.

Glen Trew
Last year Pete Verrando on this group offered to transfer a Umatic 3/4" video cassette, so you might reach out to him.
