Ray Cymoszinsky

Damn!  I was surfing the web this morning and for some reason looked up Ray on imdb and found that he passed away last Christmas.  I was just an acquaintence but my dealing with him was always so positive, I never felt like a stranger.  If you ever crossed paths with him I expect you felt the same way.  Ray, John Mosely and Neil Stone all generously extended a helping hand to me beyond our commercial relationships.  They all are gone much too soon and I will miss them - but I am better for having met them.  Rob Braxton

All,

I am attaching the following on behalf of Ray's daughter, Hilary.

Memorial services will be held on September 17th, 2006 for former Chicago sound mixer Ray Cymoszinski, who passed away prematurely on December 25th, at his home in Los Angeles.

Ray was well known in Chicago for his talent both as a sound mixer and technician. Beginning with his tenure as a technician at Helix in the early 1970’s, Ray established himself as the “go to” guy if you owned Nagra recorder in the Midwest. Wishing to further his career outside of technical work, Ray began free-lancing as a production mixer, and quickly established himself in the 1980’s with his work on the feature “My Bodyguard”. He went on to mix over 20 feature films and TV productions, as well as numerous commercials. Right up until his untimely death in December, Ray was mixing the TV series “Everybody Hates Chris” (which dedicated an episode in Ray’s memory).

Ray is survived by his daughter Hilary, who has put together a website in Ray’s memory at www.cymoszinski.com.

The memorial services will be held September 17th, at 3:00 P.M. at August House Studio, located at 2113 W. Roscoe Chicago, IL 60618. For those who wish to attend, please RSVP Hilary Cymoszinski for directions and more information at: admin@cymoszinski.com
