soundmanjohn
I've just given up on trying to watch Michael Haneke's film 'Amour', not because of the subject, which is indeed challenging, but because of the sound design which is driving me nuts. I know that Mr. Haneke spends a great deal of time on his sound designs and they've often been described as challenging, disorienting, alienating and a lot of other 'tings, but the sound in this particular movie just screams 'bad technique' to me. I sort-of get what he's after, but there's a fine line between alienation and complete distraction. Anyone else have this problem, or is it just me?
