PTA
I'm interested in this too. With everyone shooting on C300's, an internally powered, reliable, high quaily hop is very enticing. Mounting anything large on a camera like this can be a nightmare.
Matt Radlauer
Is the battery replaceable? What happens when it dies in the middle of a long day? "sound is wrapped!" LOL
Ze Frias
Is the battery replaceable? What happens when it dies in the middle of a long day? "sound is wrapped!" LOL By the description that Glenn made it sounds to me as though it is replaceable. But we will Found out for sure soon enough.
johnpaul215
Is the battery replaceable? What happens when it dies in the middle of a long day? "sound is wrapped!" LOL on the RX200? Glenn said internal AAs or external 12volt. RX200 is a mini receiver with AA batteries and 12VDC power that can.......
John Blankenship
Is the battery replaceable? What happens when it dies in the middle of a long day? "sound is wrapped!" LOL According to Glenn, it uses AA batteries: (I see johnpaul and I posted at the same time. Maybe that makes it true.)
Matt Radlauer
According to Glenn, it uses AA batteries: (I see johnpaul and I posted at the same time. Maybe that makes it true.) I missed that scanning over the thread. Sounds like a smaller updated version of the RX900. Good!
glenn
The AA batteries can be changed in a few seconds. Very easy to do. We do not have a run time specification at this time and I do not want to put out a best guess. We will have a better idea at NAB. I do think one change per full working day might be the best I can give you for the moment. Glenn
Matt Radlauer
Are you recommending lithiums like with the RX900?
glenn
Nimh or alkaline most likely. Lithiums are always good but not necessary. Glenn
Matt Martin
Glenn, while you're at it, can we get any extra info about the Nomad Touch product as well? - is the product a wireless interface to work with an existing touchscreen device (like smartphone, tablet, etc?) or is it an actual touch screen unit you will be selling? - any hints on what we'll be able to control and view from the screen? - is this the same product that adds touchscreen capability to the Oasis or is that a separate thing? osa
yeah, a while back in a discussion about powering Zaxcom camera hops, Glenn said something about "we might have an answer iat NAB". This was not what I expected. I definitely like the sound of this. funny i thought the exact same thing! was looking at my qrx235 and ext batt back on the side of an f55 thinking damn that is still too much bulk but its packed with so many sweet features i cant really complain. Someone will complain eventually. Rx200 here i come. -Ken

cjh
RX200 is a great idea I think. Half of the popular cameras now are too small for a full size receiver to be practical, add to that a battery system in the case of the QRX and you've got a big hunk hanging off a little camera.. We'll see how small it really is! I'm kind of hoping it takes AA batteries but I suspect an internal Li-Ion based on the wording. Probably a little cheaper too and might let lower market users have a try with Zaxcom wireless. Maybe if it's small enough they could eventually do an RX200-IFB with an on-board headphone amp There's gotta be a 12 fader version of that Oasis I'm thinking.. I have the mix 12 and the 12 faders is great at times but 8 is heaps as you have all the pots on the fusion (and nomad I presume) which you can select for any input also. When I use all 12 channels of my mix 12 there's normally 2 to 3 comms circuits and a playback one, all those things can run off the rec machine pots or digi faders. More was always better but these days I'm think less is more and am about to reconfigure my kit and build a new cart that will be way more portable and flexible than my current system and still have the same fire power. do love the fusion & mix 12 though but they pretty chunky by todays standards. vale
I hope for a new standalone Zaxnet/IFB device with serial port.
pindrop
Whilst we wait we could entertain ourselves with a game of 'guess the buttons.' Zaxcom insiders not eligible. Prize for who gets the most right?
Prahlad Strickland
perhaps a free oasis
johnpaul215
You can make out some of them in the video because the angle changes. I also am guessing some of them follow form of the mix 12 (like the transport keys and talkback). The one that looked very interesting for a nomad is what I think might say "re-record ". I think it was 15 or 16 in your picture.
VASI
I hope the new Deva will not start from 1.00 firmware and will end up to 8.00 firmware in 4 years from release. Just saying
Ze Frias
I hope the new Deva will not start from 1.00 firmware and will end up to 8.00 firmware in 4 years from release. Just saying Why not? It could mean constant improvements and addition of features. What I'm saying, better that than it just stays in 1.00 for four years. Ze Frias
Complete product. Not half. Maybe it's just me, so ignore me. I understand what you're trying to say, but all I'm offering is the opportunity to appreciate the other side of the coin, which is that Zaxcom does at least continue to offer new features and improvements constantly via software / firmware updates. It is a surprise to me how Howwy has any life outside of his work with the constant software developments across the product line and whatnot.
