dfisk
I worked for Technicolor back in 2007. We mainly did video games and animation. That facility was on Olive in Burbank and was shut down several years ago.
Philip Perkins
Another Hollywood icon of my youth gone.
Adam Labadie
I worked at the Toronto location for a few years. Not a well run company.
Richard Ragon
I'm surprised Marc hasn't chimed in on this.
Marc Wielage
I believe this is the big lavish building on Ontario Street, around the corner from Pacific Radio (and just a few blocks from the Burbank Airport). Both the Burbank and London division were involved with file compression, video QC, digitizing various kinds of media, creating DCP files for projection, and stuff like that. The official statement was that all these tasks were now "commoditized," meaning they can get the work done cheaper by farming them out to other companies (some overseas in 3rd-world countries). Technicolor still has a big presence in Hollywood at Sunset & Gower, but it does appear that their divisions are being whittled down quite a bit.
