mikewest
Seem to remember someone showed us a check list some time ago. I'm sending my young boom operator out on a recce for a 6 week job so thought this list would be a great help to him as he is quire a newbie. Any help much appreciated. mike
Malcolm Davies Amps CAS
Mike I have a PDF of it. It's an old Gotham File. Ping your email address to malcolm at manxmoviesound dot com and I'll send it.
Nathaniel Robinson
PSS has something like this on their site: http://www.pro-sound.com/Scout%20List%202012.pdf Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RPSharman
Unfortunately, as you know, it's experience in production that allows you to recognize problems at locations beyond the obvious. I remember the list, and it's certainly a good one. One thing that is often missed is asking what time of day, and what day of week the location is scheduled, if the reccie schedule doesn't reflect that. There may be schools, events, traffic, etc., that aren't there on the day you scout, but can be a problem for shooting. Getting info from location manager and relaying it to 1st AD for scheduling can really save you. It'll be a great learning experience, and it's valuable for your boom op to meet the crew and have a good report before day 1.
johnpaul215
https://www.gothamsound.com/extras/documents "location scout checklist". I forwarded this to someone ones when they scheduled a scout on a day I was already working. At the very least it made them conscious of things that affect our department. DaneCody
Hi all, I'm working on a location recce checklist and then thought I'd see if one existed. Found the Gotham one and this thread... Mike West - can't download yours - did you end up putting it somewhere available online? Thank you.
BAB414
What's "Call Before You Dig"? from the Gotham list
Paul F
You mark where you are going to dig. Then call 811. All the utilities come out and mark their underground pipes and conduits so that when you dig, you don't cut a gas line etc.
