cory
Has anyone ever done this/know how to do this? Most of mine are running 1.4.4 and I hear that there are newer firmwares available... I'm sure I could do a google search, but does anyone know off the top of their head where I can find what the upgrade would actually get me? (Sennheiser's site is hard to navigate in terms of finding this info...)
John Blankenship
1) Go to http://www.google.com 2) In the search window, type: sennheiser g3 firmware 3) Click on the appropriate link, such as http://en-us.sennheiser.com/service-support-services-software-downloads 4) Select the appropriate software and download it. 5) Do the happy dance. Eric Toline
Give Sennheiser a call in Connecticut. Sure they could tell you but doubtful you could do any upgrade yourself.........OTOH John B always has the right answer.

Thanks JB-- this where I was prior to posting this thread. I'm still not clear on how to get the firmware TO the portable TX and RX's (I do not have any of the non-portable stuff). Has anyone here updated their G3 firmware before?

According to the listing of the software linked above: The software 'Wireless Systems Manager (WSM)' is required for the firmware update: Please choose from the WSM menu: "Applications > Firmware Update"
Rick Reineke
Has anyone here updated their G3 firmware? - Not that I'm aware of.. here and elsewhere. Same for the G2.

I hadn't realized WSM had become so powerful. Nor did I ever even consider that updating the firmware of those transmitters would be possible. Seems like it is, although it's not clear what sort of advantages the new firmware might bring. From what I understood from perusing the manual of the WSM, at least one stationary receiver is required to connect to the computer and to update the portable transmitters
resonate
Ok, since Senator is not here..... Why exactly would you like to update the firmware? Is there something wrong with your Senny transmitters/receivers? If it ain't broken don't fix it...
cory
Well for one, I have been talking with Sennheiser support about adding a "stereo" mode that would allow a person to plug headphones directly into it. If they do add that, I would need to update firmware...
Glen Deakin
Seems that would be more a hardware upgrade / update
Christian Spaeth
They won't add that. You can get stereo or tourguide receivers that give output to stereo headphones.

Pick up a G2 or G3 IEM receiver. They're designed to drive a pair of headphones while the camera receiver's output is designed to feed a line level bridging input. I wouldn't like to mess with perfection.Actually, I stand corrected once more as I have been informed by Senator himself that the above post actually did sound like him, except for the use of "Senny"

The g3 will output a mono signal and if sent to stereo headphones it will only come in on the left side (and rather low). You’ll either have to use a mono to stereo adapter or rewire your headphones to mono.
Rick Reineke
The SK100 bodypack transmitter is mono. if both sides of a stereo signal are wanted, tie the left & right signals together. btw, The SK100's 3.5mm TRS plug is wired Tip for mic level .. or .. the Ring terminal for line. The unused terminal is to be tied to the sleeve/ground. (a +4dB feed can occasionally clip the input stage in line level config, -10dB is recommenced)
