simon forbes
Hi Everyone I'm doing a shoot in New York in July. Can anyone tell me which frequencies I can legally use and whether I'll need to obtain a licence? Thanks very much. Simon
Abe Dolinger
Assuming UHF, you can use around 400-700 MHz without a license.
Rick Reineke
I can usually find something usable in block 21, 22 and 26. All of which are currently legal An RF scanner is your best friend. No guarantees in RF hell though.

Jesse Flaitz
I'd caution against using too much in Blocks 22 and 23, one or two wireless in each should be fine, but neither one is very hospitable. Most other blocks are pretty clear.
jwill
Block 19 and 26 have served me well...turn in receivers see if you have rf , tune and your good to go!!
Toy Robot
In my experience as well as from speaking with other mixers, the Go-To's in NYC are Lectrosonics blocks - 19, 20, 21, 25 & 26. I would caution against 22, 23, 24. And if you get here and get into trouble either contact a rental house in the area (Pro-Sound or equivalent) or contact me through my website (link below) and we'll get you sorted.
