André Boisvert Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 July/August 2001. Coats Island, in the north of Hudson's Bay, Canada. I was there with a director, a DP, and 3 Inuit guides for 2 weeks, part of a 32 day nature doc shoot. When this picture was taken, it was just me and the DP. We were 150-200 feet from 2-300 sunbathing walruses (IIRC). It was the warmest day of the shoot, 7-10 celcius (45-50 fahrenheit), but warm enough for the mosquitoes to come out. I was facing a very light breeze, and they seemed to enjoy the shelter my black back was providing. According to the DP, my back was eventually covered with an almost one inch thick layer of mosquitoes. I ended up turning off my headphones because all I could hear was "Bzzzzzzz". We went back 2 days later and there were barely any left. Quote
