MSheldon Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 I've been happily using my Rycote Invision mount for a couple years now with much satisfaction. However the internal coiled cable on my Ktek pole has developed a short right where I usually tuck the exterior portion into the cable management hook on the Invision mount. I'm just wondering if anybody else has experienced this issue and attribute the short to the cable management hook? If it's a problem for multiple people them maybe it's something that might need to be brought to Rycotes attention. Of course it could be that the cable has a short for no other reason than continual use. Matt Quote
Jack Norflus Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 My guess is the constant inserting and releasing of the cable over "a couple of years" has a lot to do with it. Quote
Glen Deakin Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 Best to. Use a thinner jumper cable with the rycote invision mount. Thin mogami or belden. Quote
mikewest Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 And tie a knot half way up the cable! Sound strange? Well try it with any lav and listen whilst stroking either side of the knot! mike Quote
MSheldon Posted August 29, 2015 Author Report Posted August 29, 2015 Thanks for the tips. I should probably just make a jumper out of thinner cable and move the internal cable end below the short. Time to get out the soldering iron. Quote
RadoStefanov Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 It is easier with right angle XLR Quote
