thunderfm
Has anyone had any experience with the Wisycom ENG Kit? The MPR-30 ENG RX and the MTP-40 Lite TX. I'm in the market to upgrade my G3 senny's and this looks like a nice combo for a wide-band solution. I know the RX units don't have top mounted controls, but I'm not too bothered about that. The important battery and rf led's are mounted high up, so I can still see them at a glance in my bag. It looks like there is a 5-pin version for hirose power too. Has anyone had any experience in the field with them? How do they perform?
Karri
No experience but... I was just weighing between this and the Lectrosonics L series. The Wisy set had going for it great battery life and frequency range. But then I realized (on jwsoundgroup, of course) that the transmitter doesn't have input limiters. So the Lectro way I went. Richard Thomas
The mtp40 and mtp41 both have 's' versions with limiters now. The ENG RX used to have slightly better rf sensitivity than the mcr42, but the mcr42's rf boards have been upgraded recently
Matthew Sonnenfeld
MCR-42 also has top mounted controls and will give you flexibility should you want to add another channel down the line.
thunderfm
I don't really have the budget for an MCR42 at the moment, so I was thinking of starting with the ENG Rx and upgrade later on. The Lectro L-series is looking a bit more tasty now that you mention the lack of limiters in the lite Tx.
VM
I own 2 Wisy's ENG kit and a MCR42 kit. They are very good. MPR 30 can go on 5D, C500 very easily, and they have a line/mic plus an headphone output. I like them, I use usually put it on cameras, with a battery eliminator on XDcam, and keep the MCR 42 in my bag. I wrote a short review here : http://www.afsi.eu/technique/test-de-la-liaison-hf-wisycom-eng-mpr30-eng-mtp40 Edited October 3, 2015 by VM
chrisyking
Get on the Raycom email list. They keep doing ridiculously good deals on Wisycom stuff every so often. Whole 2 channel kits for 3k ish.
Richard Thomas
Raycom have a stand at the plasa trade show in London for the next couple of days . Last year they were there, Massimo from Wisycom was there too
Gary V
The MTP40S Lite on the website shows the limiter as one of the features currently available. Remember, the MTP40S has 80dB of input gain range which means tons of headroom. The MPR30-ENG also has the ENR1.2 expander mode specifically designed for DSLR cameras use. This expander mode reduces the dynamic range of the output so that the DSLR inputs can not be clipped.
Miles Anderson
the limiters are really good. I've got 6 channels on a drama series and the limiters are always on. they work nicely.
