gkim
Hello, great community here. Couldn't find an answer anywhere, so thought i'd ask here: has anyone tried to use the countryman b6 caps (http://www.trewaudio.com/store/Countryman-B6-Protective-Cap-Flat-Response.html) over the OST TL40 lavs? Saw the threads here on reducing the pops on the TL40, but was looking for other options too. Thanks!
Philip Perkins
The caps don't reduce pops much on B6s, they are a sort of mechanical equalizer that adjusts the higher Hz performance (longer one give more top, etc). If your mic will take a B6 cap then you can look into lots of choices of pop screens, incl Sanken. p
gkim
Ah, i see, thanks phillip. Anyone have experience using sanken or other pop screens on OST TL40 lavs?
Eric Toline
The B6 caps are too small to fit the OST 40 and the B3 caps are too big. Besides adding a bit more top end the caps provide significant water resistance.
Rick Reineke
"Anyone have experience using sanken or other pop screens on OST TL40 lavs"- OST has metal and the cheaper foam pop screens available. TL-40 Foam Windscreen (Black,White, Tan) $4.50 ; TL-40 Metal Windscreen (Black, White, Tan, Gray) $23.50 (2013 OST price list). There are other third-party (Windtech, ect.) screens manufactured that fit the 4mm TL40.
Adam White
All the the Sanken accessories I have also fit my TL-40s: grill caps, tie clips, vampire clips, etc...
AlexQ
If memory serves me correctly, I believe the diameter of the B6 capsule is much smaller than that of the TL40's.
Rick Reineke
You're memory serves you correctly. The B6 capsule is a few mm shorter and almost half the diameter of the TL40.The specs state the B6 diameter @ 2.4 mm the TL40 @ 4.0 mm
