Jeff Wexler Posted November 20, 2008 Report Share Posted November 20, 2008 Samsung Announces Mass-Production of 256 GB of Solid State Drive for Notebooks Wednesday night, electronics manufacturer Samsung announced that the company has started production of its 256GB Flash SSD. According to Electronista, the 2.5" solid-state notebook drive offers a sequential read speed of 220MB per second but faster sequential write speeds and records data at 200MB per second. The company has estimated that the unit can write 250GB of videos in about 21 minutes versus 70 minutes on a conventional 7,200RPM rotating disk and should be able to launch apps about 10 times faster.
