osa
slightly out of our usual equipment use but I just installed a few of these for someone - noticed the factory pop screens although good quality did not sufficiently prevent plosives when spoken thru by a particular male speaker. Low end roll off was not working in this case. Did a search for other options but all i could come up with were non-sure brand popscreens that were inferior to the original shures. Are there are any do-it-yourself suggestions possibly or other solutions out there that might fit these mics? -Ken
Marc Wielage
I'd say tell the people at the podium to take a step backwards and not hit the mic directly.

johngooch
You probably already know this but.... there are two screens available for this mic system- the included foam screen and the separate accessory metal pop screen- which i think works better...? Is this the one your having problems with ?
TomBoisseau
Personally I think the optional A99WS foam windscreen works noticeably better than the included windscreen and even a little better than the optional A412MWS wire mess windscreen. The other "trick" I do with the A99WS, that Shure mentions on their website, is to push the windscreen all the way on the mic, and then pull it back off about 1/2". This creates an air gap, not unlike but not as substantial as that of a zeppelin. Of course as soon as someone touches it, it usually gets pushed back on all the way, so you will need to secure the windscreen, so as to retain the "air gap", with something like Joe's Sticky Stuff. Doing so will make removal of the foam windscreen difficult, so hopefully you will be able to leave the windscreen attached. Sadly you will still have "some" issues with plosives, but this is about as good as it gets with this type of podium mic. Tom

sounddguy
At one point is used tooth picks, forming a cross. Helped with some but no others. Wish I could have been there when some kid took a bite out of the wind screen.
