realsnd
Dear all, I need to sync video with audio WAV (scratch audio on channel 1 and LTC on channel 2). I have been advised on this forum to use da Vinci Resolve. It works, but unfortunately the audio files is trimmed to the exact duration of the video clip. This is not appropriate in our documentary setting where audio starts before and ends after video, providing very valuable material. Does anyone know how to circumvent this problem, ie to sync while keeping the full length audio, in Resolve (v12), or other tools?
Philip Perkins
Does PluralEyes do this trimming thing as well?
realsnd
PluralEyes does not trim audio clips, but it is not as reliable as LTC sync when dealing with noisy tracks.
Wandering Ear
There are third part programs that can read the LTC on channel 2 like: https://www.videotoolshed.com/product/ltc-convert-auxtc/ I believe avid can sync with LTC on an audio channel too. Constantin
TentacleSync also have a software available for syncing audio TC. I believe it's free and will probably also work with non Tentacle TC. But I have never used this program, but I know it's there and pretty good. Also, they are very responsive if you need help
callou
Tentacle sync software is indeed very good but doesn't keep audio handles around the exported video files, but you can export and xml for fcp 7 or première that I think will put all media on a time line. An option to keep all audio or handle would be great. .. Thé software is not free you have to use a tentacle box as a dongle to unlock the sync fonctions. Also if people from tentacle are reading this is think an option to use audio files name instead of video files names would be more than welcome. Applying the tc to the export files too ( for non tc cameras ) Envoyé de mon SM-G920F en utilisant Tapatalk
realsnd
Thanks all for the useful information. The audio handle problem is solved, but another issue emerged... We are dealing with about 100hrs of 4K footage and more to coming, hence the editor will work on reduced 1080p transcoded material. All the procedures above set the image TC stamps from the LTC from the audio track. Hence, the TC of the original 4K and transcoded material won't be matched anymore, compromizing the final 4K conformation of the project. Any suggestion? Any way to batch-transfer TC from the 1080p to the 4K files, knowing that we can match them by names?

As this might be interesting for others too, how did you solve it? We are dealing with about 100hrs of 4K footage and more to coming, hence the editor will work on reduced 1080p transcoded material.
