RPSharman
Hello group! I want to dismantle my UMC200D and use it in my bag rig. Has anyone done this in some clever way, or is it as simple as taking the box with the guts off the rack unit and sticking it in the bag? Thanks, Robert
ProSound
Pretty sure way back Phil Palmer did this. But you'd be better buying a PSC RF Multi
RPSharman
Why would I buy something new when I have something old that I never use? Seems like repurposing would be logical :-)
Wandering Ear
I took apart and reboxed a few other lectro RF aids for bag use in the past. No need to replace the electronics just to get a better case. I would pull the guts, measure the size you need and buy a project box in that size to house it in. Drill a couple holes and you'll be set.
RPSharman
Anyone want to help me do this on Wednesday? I'll be in Los Angeles on Wednesday, and would love to have a go at moving this into a project box with the help of someone who knows what they're doing with a soldering iron. I am happy to have the switch be permanently on, so it just powers up when I plug the unit into an external battery. I'm really looking for a pretty low tech solution here, as it will be buried in a bag. Happy to pay for your time, and a couple of nice beers, while we take stuff apart in your workshop!
