Ramsay D
The wear and tear on my cos 11's have lead to the finish coming off the grill and element. Does anyone have a solution to refinishing them?
Freeheel
I use a black sharpie on the grill when it has to look nice. I use the RM11 rubber holder all the time so my mic bodies are always protected, so I have no suggestions on how to fix that damage, other than possibly use automotive touchup paint... Zach R
I've had the same question about one of my 416 bodies. Paint has worn off in some spots just like this lav. I was told that sennheiser would just replace the putter tube but the price is something like a quarter to a third of the full price. For small touch ups on cos-11s and even the grill of other black mics I've used, and seen others use, just a black sharpie. ...it's far from perfect. I once bought a stick mic not knowing its grill had been sharpied until I noticed the intense smell.
Derek H
The sharpie fix is very temporary. Model paint maybe? The cos-11 tube is brass I think but not sure.
Freeheel
The Sharpie on the grill is definitely temporary, but I feel better using about it than potentially messing up the mic element with paint or paint bridging the holes of the mesh. Usually the mic is hidden under clothing or has the windscreen on it. (if exposed as a clip on). The only times I hit it with the Sharpie is if its grill is sticking out of the buttonhole of a black shirt and I only need the colour to stay on for the rest of the day.
