foliver
Hello, i want to reduce size and weight of my denecke 48v for wireless boom, someone knows a real compact one to use with a tx? Plug ons are not an option, thanks! Enviado desde mi iPhone utilizando Tapatalk
Philip Perkins
An old ASC "black box" P48 psu is a little smaller, but hard to find. I still have one but it uses 22v batteries that are hard to find anymore.

Philip Perkins
Yeah, 22v mercury batteries, with one contact on each end, made for OLD radio gear I guess. I bought the PSU new in the early '80s. Works great if you can find these batts, but still not really a whole lot smaller than the Denecke. Maybe you could make something from a kit or plans that had "flying" leads? It's the XLR connectors than make the Denecke so big.

Philip Perkins
As I recall, Core Sound, who makes the Tetramic, also had a small phantom PSU. http://www.core-sound.com/2Phant/1.php
John Ronnerblad
I've done some comparisons a couple of years ago: 48v UMP II: 160g incl batteries) 92x57x18mm PWLIII: 150g (inkl. Batteries) 115x36x26mm Kortwich: 85g (inkl batteries) 78x40x22mm
Mungo
Have the Ambient. Very light and reliable, works with normal AAs and draws little power. Only negative: It's nearly impossible to mount it somewhere without accessories.
Constantin
There is also this: http://www.audiowireless.co.uk/products/audio-wireless-in-line-p48-power-supply
Chris Howland CAS
You might want to check out the MozeGear line of products like the 'Pip' or the 'Mini Papi.' http://www.mozegear.comSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have the Ambient one too - I found a tiny neoprene belt pouch for generic digital cameras that fits it perfectly for a few dollars that I cable-tied to one side of a Rycote shock mount handle, with a Lectro SM pouch on the other side for a wireless boom. Feels about the same as a plug-on in a similar position.

Christian Spaeth
I use the Kortwich power supply, very small and light, runs for a day on a 9V, and sells at a decent price.
ao
you did not mention which wireless system you were planning to use the power supply with. I used an areitec pico48 with my zax wireless, before the 742 plug-on was available. lightweight, one 9volt battery.
BAB414
Just found this other thread: Kortwich looks very promising as does the AudioRoot Femto: http://www.filmtontechnik.de/kortwich-produkte/preamp/#c3159 http://www.audioroot.fr/product/femto/ (but not for wireless boom unfortunately)

Hi Christian Are you using the VCP-M1 ? There is no mention of a 9V powering possibility on the Kortwich site. All the Kortwich preamps seem to be powered only through a Hirose. Jim Feeley
Maybe Mozegear Flexbox? I haven't used it, but have used other Mozegear stuff with success. (Sorry if it was mentioned earlier in the thread) https://www.mozegear.com/phantom-power
Klaus
@johngoochWould 100g (including battery) @ half the size of Kortwichs sound tempting?
