Philip Perkins
I had a great Hoodman "Eclipse" sun hood for my old Powerbook, but it is too small to fit the MacBook I use now. Hoodman doesn't seem to be stocking their Mac hoods anymore, and told me they might not be making them for computers in the future. (All the ones on their site--out of stock--were for G4 laptops.) I found this hood from Europe: http://www.theithelper.com/laptopshade.htm, anyone know it? Another suggestion? The MacBook screen is really not as bright as my Powerbook's screen was, so I do need help with it outside. Philip Perkins
tourtelot
Hi Philip- I have one of these hoods for my new touchscreen. It works fine. I added some velcro to make it more secure but it is made out of plastic and should last a long time. I got mine from cyberguys.com. D. Celac
Hi, You might take a look here: http://www.canhamcameras.com/Bellows.html They offer self supporting hoods for laptops, finders, etc..
Guest BobD
I think these are MUCH more practical, and they fold up so you can stash it and GO... I'm not sure whether "out of stock" means they're done... or, just out of stock. I have one and it works great. http://www.hoodmanusa.com/products.asp?dept=1019

I'm not sure whether "out of stock" means they're done... or, just out of stock. I have one and it works great. http://www.hoodmanusa.com/products.asp?dept=1019 As I said in my initial post in this thread, I have a 12" Hoodman for the now-departed Powerbook I used to use on location, but Hoodman doesn't have any of the hoods for larger laptops, and has never made a line of hoods for MacIntel laptops (MacBook, MacBook Pro) at all. I called and the person on the phone knew of no plans to update their product line in this regard. I ended up with a "Compu-Shade" (as in the photo above)--cheaper than the Hoodman was but not as effective and much clunkier. I did find other hoods that would work but they were not any better designed and were more expensive than the CompuShade. For the moment it will have to do. Richard Lightstone, CAS
The Hoodman version, even with shipping is cheaper.
