RPSharman
Before I send it in... I have a little rattle in my 50. It's bee to Sennheiser recently, but not sure recently enough. Frustrating this happened. Should I take it apart and have a look?

Joe Mullins
The other day I noticed that one of the set screws holding the XLR connector in place fell off my 50. I didn't notice rattling before replacing the screw but perhaps that's something to check first.
osborne456
Set screws loosen... and as many of us who ab-use the 50 daily eventually learn.... it's no wonder. Round-trip Boston to Connecticut, adjusted & back in 5 days. Grazie mille Sennheiser-Neumann sorcerers.
Richard Thomas
Kris Jarosz (ex RFS) should be cheaper than Sennheiser for minor repairs over here and he's very capable- krisaudioservices@gmail.com 07740 173540
Olle Sjostrom
One time, my mkh50 too had a rattle. I opened it and saw one of the switches was loose internally, it was easy to fasten again. Open it up and see what you can see is my advice!

Sure it might just be a component thing for two fifty year old mics ... Cheers, Jez
RPSharman
I undid the screws but couldn't get mic apart. Found video on MKH60, but wanted me to unsolder the XLR assembly, assuming I had been able to get it apart. So it's not set screws at least. Mic is in LA, which I failed to mention. It was in to Sennheiser about a year ago, but only a 6 month service warranty. Don't want to spend $300/£200 again so soon. It's an ambient rattle. Should be simple. afewmoreyears
Funny, I did nothing and my screws fell out on their own!!
Olle Sjostrom
There are those two black hex screws on the top and bottom, and then there's another in between the pins (IIRC) , and then you push it out of the tube by gently pushing the xlr pins. So no need to solder anything.. At least that's how I did...
Constantin
Also, if you hook up an XLR cable to the mic you can pull on that
