Joe Riggs
I'm trying to add 1 mono file to a 8 track poly file, when I bring them into wave agent and press combine it says the process is complete but nothing happens. Can someone let me know the proper procedure to accomplish this? I should add this lone mono file is from a separate recorder, that's started a little later than the first recorder, so is it even possible to combine it in Wave Agent? Do I have to take it into a NLE or DAW, sync them, then export a 9 track poly? Thanks
nickreich
combining different start times isn't possible in Wave Agent. Other Poly mergers can do it but they'd align the files from the front edges which would be out of sync - so yes, you'd need to spot them to timecode (or waveform match them) in a DAW and re-export. Mobilemike
I believe that PolyWAV files by definition need to have all channels be the same length down to the sample, so may be best to combine in a DAW and consolidate and export like @nickreich suggested. -Mike
Joe Riggs
What are some other poly merger applications?
nickreich
There's a freeware Mac one called SoundFilesMerger which works well, but only for merging - not with all the timecode and metadata functions we need for Film work. In the WIN world, BWF Widget from Courtney Goodin comes with a merger/splitter utility.
