soundtrane
I am planning to try a DIY "real mic inputs box" for the Sony PCM-D50, which has the standard Sony "Plugin power" Mic input (3.5mm). I found this document http://www.jensen-transformers.com/as/as037.pdf Need some guidance for building a unit. If this works out well, i wont need to buy the SONY XLR input module for 500$. Heh.... (of course there are workarounds, but I thought, why not try something out?) warm regards -vin (killing some time until picture edit completes their work)

Matt McGowin
You might want to check out some of these $200 boxes from beachtek for ideas on building yours www.beachtek.com Matt
Philip Perkins
Not sure what you are asking. The schematic is good, if you don't want to attempt it yourself you could ask a tech what it would cost to build it for you, or maybe just pay him for advice. Building a mic preamp of any kind, esp one that has to sound good on a professional level and be location-rugged is a daunting task. Boomboom
How do you go from 1/8" or TA3 connector line out to Line In Optical (of the PCM-D50) ? I'd guess you'd need a converter ? Asking cause if so, you'd have to choose a Mic Out Beachtec unit (only one model -the 6HD - has the Line Output capability but it's 1/8"). Boomboom
...Ok, just saw the Sony XLR1 adapter and it's got 1/8" jack so I figure out you can use both 1/8" and optical jacks to input the device... ?
